Well I guess God is certainly up there somewhere in the sky to paint them; for us to photograph. :-)
Now the Temple Info:
The Lord Brihadishwara Temple at Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, is the world's first complete granite temple and was built by RajaRaja Chola I.
The temple is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The 'Vimana' ie. the temple tower - is about 70 meters high and is among the tallest of its kind in the world. The Kalash or 'Shikhara' (the dome like structure on the top) of the temple is of monolithic granite weighs more than 80 tons. There is a big statue of Nandi - The sacred bull, carved out of a single rock, at the entrance measuring about 16 feet long and 13 feet high.

The temple in the above photo is Gangai Konda Cholapuram, built by Raja Raja Chola 2, trying to emulate his father, this temple is not as popular as the Brihadishwara Temple, this located 60 kms from Tanjavur. The Shiva deity is actually bigger than the deity at the Brihadishwara Temple.
